Quick Note About Mid-East Escalation
Wherein I point out that "nothing is over until we say it is" (Animal House)...
People keep thinking that after the Israeli so-called "drone attack" on Iran that everyone is just going to sit back and not do anything more.
Ridiculous. The Israeli attack on the Iranian Consulate was "tit 1", followed by the Iran attack as "tat 1". The Israeli drone attack on Iran is "tit 2".
Iran now has to attack Israel again as "tat 2". Unless the Iraqi Shia attacks on the US bases are to be considered as "tat 2" - which I doubt.
This is what Iran has said they will do if Israel attacks them back. And anyone familiar with schoolyard conflicts should understand “tit for tat” doesn’t end with tit number 2.
However, what Israel did is NOT attack Iran directly but by most likely using the M.E.K. terrorist group to launch drones from inside Iraq or even inside Iran. So it’s possible Iran thinks it doesn't have to respond to that incident because TECHNICALLY it wasn’t Israel directly attacking Iran. Especially since Israel was hesitant to claim the attack, despite what the US media was loudly proclaiming.
However, if Pepe Escobar's report on the alleged Israeli nuclear EMP attack proves true (he discusses it on this video), then Iran HAS to respond again. Although Pepe does say that all parties have agreed to keep that incident under wraps. So perhaps that will modify the Iranian response. Because an appropriate Iranian response to such an attack would have to be massive - perhaps more massive than Iran is willing to commit to at this point.
Not that it matters. Because as Norman Finkelstein told Glenn Greenwald, Israel always keeps pushing. And as Mercouris always says, the neocons have "no reverse gear". So escalation will continue until Iran is forced to respond.
And I agree with Alastair Crooke’s latest on the Mid-East situation: that what is happening is not subject to conventional “rational” analysis of the sort being done by a lot of alt-media analysts. Also see here on Judge Andrew Napolitano’s Youtube channel: “Will Zionism Self-Destruct?”
What this means is what I’ve been saying: This war, far from not being wanted by anyone, is wanted by everyone. They just want to “manage” it so that 1) they don’t get blamed for starting it, and 2) they don’t immediately lose it by letting it get out of control instantly. This is the same situation you get with every war, historically.
But both sides - the neocons/Israelis and the Axis of Resistance - have decided that this war has to happen to resolve the situation in the Middle East. And so it will.
i agree with your last 2 paragraphs in particular... i wish it was different, but that is how i too see it..
